generating ideas (P1,M1,U21)

P1 (U21): explain different ideas for an original media product based on a client brief.

I have been asked by The London Magazine to pitch and produce 3 ideas for a new, online and print based magazine which is based in North London. - explicit.

the magazine will be based on music. as well as this it will have a venue location in North London.- implicit.

I will have to choose a specific genre. people will also need to know about the magazine.- open to intemperate.

idea 1:
my first idea is to create a Rap magazine based in North London. This would have a wide selection of Rap artists involved in the industry. This will allow the Target audience of the magazine to read about their Rap idols from all over the world and learn what they are up to in the music industry. The target audience of the=is magazine would be 16- 24 year olds. This is because rap is seen to attract teenagers and young adults a lot more than any other genre.

idea 2:
my second idea is to make a rap artist magazine. my rapper would be Travis Scott. This is because his music is seen to be extremely inspiring and creative all over the world especially in North London. This will allow us to reach our Target Audience and boost the sales and publicity of the magazine as well as the rapper. this magazine will cost £3.99. this is because it doesn't have as much content as a magazine with loads of people involved in it because it is only about 1 person. as well as this, it will only appeal to his fans, therefore less of the market will be interested in it. the colour scheme of this magazine will be a mixture of dark colours. this is because Travis Scotts music covers are commonly dark.

idea 3:
My third idea is to make a magazine based on a venue. This venue would be the 02 Arena in Central London. this venue has a variety of artists perform and allows them to create an incredible atmosphere because it has a capacity of 20,000. this allows many people in North London to go and experience on of their favourite artists from a variety of different genres. other things like climbing the 02 arena also attract people to the venue. this magazine will cost roughly £7.99. this is because it is a high end, well known venue. because its extremely recognisable, this allows us to charge a higher price and create better content. the colour scheme of this magazine will be a bright blue as well as white. this is because it is the colour scheme of the 02 logo as long as the website.

 idea
 strength
 weakness
 idea 1- genre (Rap)
  •  allows you to use more content.
  • speak about more artists rather than just one
  • appeals to the whole rap industry
  • exclusive
  • targets a mass market
  • promotes the genre
  • wide range of artists
  • if the audience doesn't like a certain rapper, they cans till read other elements of the magazine.
  •  doesn't appeal to other genres
  • most people that listen to rap aren't magazine readers, therefore it's unlikely for them to buy and read our magazine.
  • won't focus on specific artists in as much detail as its competitors

idea 2- rap artist (Travis Scott)
  • his fans will want to read it to learn about him
  • well known rapper
  • people idolise him
  • he has an influence on fans in North London
  •  only appeals to his fans
  • small market
  • not much content to put it and cover

 idea 3- venue (02 Arena)
  •  high end
  • higher price
  • well known
  • appeals to large market
  • a lot of content
  •  only venue, could be improved by using other venues to attract  others e.g. ally pally.
  • it will attract others towards the 02 arena which will boost their sales and profit. this will add more of a desire for the musicians

To conclude, i have chosen my first idea. this is because it will allow me to use a large amount of content. this will help bring more interest and recognition towards my magazine. as well as this, my magazine will appeal to the whole rap industry which is a mass market. this will increase the number of opportunities created which will lead to more potential sales of the magazine. even though this magazine won't attract other genres, the rap industry is still a mass market and will make my magazine extremely successful.
